Meet Dennis Lam, DDS, MS, FRCD(C)
Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Dennis Lam is a board-certified pediatric dentist with more than 20 years of experience caring for children and families. His philosophy is simple: good pediatric dentistry is not just about treating teeth. It is about understanding the individual child, helping parents make sense of their options, and working together to decide what care makes the most sense.
Dr. Lam earned his dental degree from Columbia University and completed advanced specialty training in pediatric dentistry in New York City. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, reflecting board certification in pediatric dentistry in both the United States and Canada.
Since opening Gallery of Little Smiles in 2012, Dr. Lam has cared for families from throughout northern New Jersey and beyond. Over the years, he has found that parents often value guidance as much as treatment itself. He takes time to explain what he sees, what is important, what can wait, and what options are available so families can make informed decisions with confidence.
Every child is different, and Dr. Lam believes their dental care should reflect that. Age, temperament, development, past experiences, treatment needs, and family priorities can all influence the best approach. His goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized care while helping children build the comfort and confidence that can shape their relationship with dentistry for years to come.
Originally from Toronto, Dr. Lam remains a lifelong hockey fan and recreational player. He is also an amateur jazz and classical pianist and enjoys the outstanding live music throughout the New York and New Jersey area.
For Dr. Lam, one of the most rewarding parts of pediatric dentistry is earning a family’s trust over time—from a child’s first visits through the many stages of growing up.
